3 Low-Cost Quarterbacks the Eagles Can Sign to Back Up Jalen Hurts
Eagles Should Target QB Jimmy Garoppolo
Jimmy Garoppolo found himself in hot water this offseason when he was hit with a two-game suspension for violating the NFL's PED policy. The violation was the straw that broke the camel's back in Sin City as the Las Vegas Raiders released the ex-Eastern Illinois signal-caller on Thursday.
If Garoppolo is willing to play the 2024 campaign on a cheap 'prove yourself' deal, targeting him should be a no-brainer for the Eagles.
While he's never been the best QB in the league, Garoppolo's track record speaks for itself. The 32-year-old veteran boasts a 43-20 record across 63 starts split between the Raiders, San Francisco 49ers, and New England Patriots. He's also played to a career 67.4% completion rate and 97.6 passer rating while throwing for 15,494 yards, 94 TDs, and 51 INTs.
Garoppolo also brings some postseason success to the table. Although he hasn't made a throw beyond the regular season since 2021, he still owns a 4-2 playoff record and was a part of the Patriots' last two Super Bowl wins.
Whether it's to challenge McKee or immediately take over the QB2 position, it's clear that Garoppolo is one of the better available backup options for Hurts.
