3 Low-Cost Quarterbacks the Eagles Can Sign to Back Up Jalen Hurts
Eagles Can Target QB Easton Stick
Another free-agent QB that's been linked to the Eagles is Easton Stick. The 6-foot-1, 224-pound signal-caller won four FCS Championship titles across five seasons at North Dakota State before being drafted 166th overall by the Los Angeles Chargers in 2019.
Nevertheless, NFL insider Adam Caplan lists Stick as a "name to watch" when it comes to Philly's QB2 job. Kellen Moore — the Eagles' new offensive coordinator — worked with the 28-year-old when Moore held the same job title with the Chargers throughout the 2023 campaign.
After not saying any action from 2020 to 2022, Stick made a career-high four starts for the Chargers after Justin Herber was placed on the injured reserve in December. While the former Bison didn't win any of his appearances, he still went 111-for-174 in the pocket (63.8%) for 1,129 yards, three touchdowns, one interception, and an 85.6 passer rating.
With Moore nearing 30, he likely won't get much better than he is, but that's fine. Hurts is the Eagles' quarterback of the present and future, meaning they only need Stick to be a reliable safety blanket — something he proved he could be last season.
