3 Free Agent Centers the 76ers Can Sign Following Joel Embiid Injury News
2. Derrick Favors
Favors last played in the NBA during the 2021-22 season with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Georgia Tech product is a solid player in the frontcourt and has certain old-school aspects to his game. Favors can finish through contact in the paint and fights on the glass consistently.
He has a smooth mid-range jumper and can space the floor for his teammates. He is slow-footed which gives him trouble on the defensive end. Despite that, Favors plays the game hard and will make the opposing big man work for his buckets.
The 2010 third-overall pick has career averages of 10.6 points, 7.1 rebounds, and shoots 53% from the field. Even though he hasn't played in the NBA in over a year, Favors could provide a boost on the offensive end.
3. Montrezl Harrell
Harrell is the ultimate spark plug in the frontcourt. The Louisville product was a part of the 76ers roster during the 2022-23 campaign. Harrell has such a high motor and is a terrific finisher around the rim.
The 30-year-old may be 6-foot-7 but he has a 7'4 wingspan. Harrell runs the floor extremely well and has a knack for creating easy scoring opportunities around the basket. He also fights on the offensive glass to generate second chances.
Additionally, Harrell excels in pick-and-roll situations as both a screener and scorer. The 2015 second-round pick logs 12.1 points, five rebounds, and makes 61% of his shots from the field in nine seasons. He averaged double-digit points from 2017-2022.
No one can replace Embiid's presence but Harrell could definitely help on the offensive side.
