3 Former Pro Bowlers the Eagles Can Still Sign in Free Agency

The Philadelphia Eagles haven’t decided yet on what they want to do at safety, but they do have CJ Gardner-Johnson, who will help the secondary as a whole.

However, there’s a contingent of Eagles fans who want the team to go out and get two-time Pro Bowl safety Justin Simmons.

Simmons was shockingly released by the Denver Broncos ahead of NFL free agency after a good eight-year tenure in the Mile High City. This past season with the Broncos, Simmons had 70 combined tackles, eight pass deflections, three interceptions, two tackles for loss, and two forced fumbles.

The veteran free safety posted a 66.7 completion percentage, an 89.1 pass rating allowed when targeted, and gave up three receiving touchdowns en route to being named to the Pro Bowl for the second time in his career.

The Eagles have some youth at the safety spot with Reed Blankenship, Sydney Brown, and Gardner-Johnson. However, the later we get into the offseason, the better chance the Eagles might have to sign the former Broncos safety.
