3 Eagles to Blame For the Disappointing Week 2 Loss to Falcons

WR Jahan Dotson
When the Philadelphia Eagles received the devastating news that AJ Brown would miss the next couple of weeks with a hamstring injury, all eyes turned to Jahan Dotson. Their new acquisition would need to step up in their star's absence to give Jalen Hurts another reliable weapon.
However, he was rarely involved on offense, finishing the game with one target. He caught a pass for six yards. Instead, it was punt returner Britain Covey who was a big part of the offense. The 5-foot-8 return man was heavily involved in the passing game, finishing the game with six targets and 23 yards.
Dotson was acquired by the Eagles via a trade with the Commanders on August 22. He didn't spend training camp and preseason with Jalen Hurts and the rest of the team. Perhaps it is understandable that they haven't been able to build chemistry yet.
In all fairness, Dotson managed to get open a few times but didn't get the pass from his quarterback. Hurts relied significantly on Saquon Barkley and his own legs.
At the same time, Dotson really needs to prove his worth on his new team. The former first-round pick out of Penn State failed to live up to the hype in his first two seasons in the league. If he can't turn it around in Philadelphia, either, the Eagles may start looking for upgrades.
