3 Eagles Still Unemployed Entering Training Camp

2. Shaquille Leonard
Sticking at linebacker, Shaquille Leonard struggled in his short stint with the Eagles last season. The former second-round pick joined Philly in December after being waived by the Indianapolis Colts in November.
The veteran linebacker looked like a shell of himself with the Eagles and wasn’t the same player he saw in Indianapolis over the years. Leonard had 23 combined tackles, two tackles for loss, a quarterback hit, and a sack.
The former Colts linebacker struggled mightly in pass coverage, giving up a career-worst 123.8 pass rating allowed when targeted and one receiving touchdown.
Leonard’s best game with the Eagles was on Christmas against the New York Giants. He had seven combined tackles, two tackles for loss, and a quarterback hit. In that game, the veteran linebacker looked like the player we saw in Indianapolis.
However, that didn’t last long, as he struggled the next week against the Arizona Cardinals, who picked on him and the rest of the Eagles’ back seven.
The former South Carolina State star hasn’t received much interest this offseason but is getting healthy and working hard as he told Kyle Smedley of the Indianapolis Star. However, Leonard also told Smedley that he didn’t land an opportunity, he’s had a great career.
NFL fans would love to see a healthy Leonard on the field this season because when he’s at 100%, he’s one of the best in the league.
