3 Eagles Starters Who Will Be Replaced in the NFL Draft
With the way things finished for the Philadelphia Eagles in the 2023 season, there's no way general manager Howie Roseman is just going to sit on his hands and see how things work out with the same players on his roster. Roseman is known for being one of the most aggressive GMs in the entire league, and you can expect him to make major changes in 2024.
The Eagles have already brought in Vic Fangio as defensive coordinator to replace Sean Desai/Matt Patricia. The upgrade at defensive coordinator is substantial, but it's time to start considering player personnel, and on both sides of the ball.
Which Eagles starters could be in danger of losing their jobs to rookies coming in the 2024 NFL Draft? The Eagles have three picks in the first two rounds, and you expect those to be starter-caliber players. Here's who should be watching their back.
1. Jason Kelce, C
Jackson Powers-Johnson, Howie Roseman is on Line 1...
In all seriousness, let's talk about some low-hanging fruit here for a second. Not every player who underperformed last year is going to be replaced in the early rounds of the NFL Draft. In some instances, you're going to have to replace guys who are leaving in other ways, whether free agency or trade. In Jason Kelce's case, it's obviously retirement pushing him off the depth chart.
Although the Eagles have former second-round pick Cam Jurgens on the roster, I think it's safe to say that the interior offensive line has been given a violent shove into the realm of realism with that first-round pick they've got. Oregon's Jackson Powers-Johnson would be a great pick, but so would Duke's Graham Barton.
The Eagles could take someone with center/guard flexibility and add some youth to the depth chart at whatever position Cam Jurgens isn't playing on the interior.
