3 Eagles on the Trade Block on Draft Day
By Jovan Alford
2. Josh Sweat
With the Eagles trading Hasson Reddick to the New York Jets, the likelihood of the team moving Sweat during NFL draft weekend is slim to none.
However, Sweat has to be considered, as a potential trade block option despite Philly signing him to a one-year, restructured $10 million deal. The 27-year-old had a down 2023 season, but the entire Eagles’ defense, as a whole struggled.
Last season, the veteran defensive end posted 43 combined tackles, 23 quarterback hits, seven tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. While most of his stats were on par with the 2022 season, Sweat had a notable dip in sack production, going from 11.5 to 6.5.
With the Eagles bringing in a new defensive coordinator and scheme, they may decide to go for a younger option in the draft. At the same time, Eagles fans shouldn’t expect that to happen as they don’t have a ton of depth at the edge.
