3 Eagles on the Hot Seat Over the Final Four Games of the Season
3. Sean Desai, Defensive Coordinator
The Philadelphia Eagles' defense has been bad for most of the season, but they've been atrocious over the last month or so. On the season, the Eagles rank 28th in points allowed, 28th in first downs allowed, 32nd in plays per drive defensively, 28th in pass defense, 18th in rushing yards per attempt allowed, 32nd in 3rd down efficiency, and 30th in red zone efficiency.
Does anyone really think this is a playoff-ready defense?
It's no wonder that Howie Roseman went out and made moves at the trade deadline. He needs all the personnel upgrades he can possibly get at this point.
Unfortunately, nothing the Eagles are doing is working on that side of the ball, and Sean Desai is probably the one Eagles coach or player whose seat is the hottest right now. Desai was supposed to be bringing the Vic Fangio style of defense to Philadelphia as a disciple of Fangio's back in Chicago, but the Eagles' defense has taken a major step back under Desai's watch.
Jonathan Gannon obviously left to take the Arizona Cardinals head coaching gig, and the Eagles are wishing he could have come back at this point.
The way Desai is losing the chess match on that side of the ball right now is going to have the Eagles in for a quick exit in this year's playoffs.
