2. Eli Ricks, Cornerback

Cornerback depth was a weakness in 2023 for the Eagles and they addressed it in a major way this offseason. In the NFL Draft, they took Toledo's Quinyon Mitchell in the first round and followed that up with Cooper DeJean in the second.

They join veterans Darius Slay, Jr. and Isaiah Rodgers. There's also former Georgia star Kelee Ringo, who has shown his potential. As if that wasn't crowded enough, they also have Avonte Maddox and C.J. Gardner-Johnson listed as safeties but each can play the slot. In fact, Maddox thrives in this role.

All that depth already pushed James Bradberry to safety and his struggles to adapt to that position could lead to his release. They would surely love to trade Bradberry but there's not likely to be any takers with his contract - plus the struggles he had in 2023.

That doesn't mean there's no one in the secondary they could trade. One name to watch would be Eli Ricks.

Listed at 6-foot-2 and 188 pounds, Ricks looks the part of an NFL cornerback. He also had excellent coaching during his collegiate career at LSU and Alabama. Still, he was undrafted in 2023 but still made the 53-man roster. He even appeared in 16 games with 19 tackles and three pass defenses.

It's hard to see a place for him on this roster but he's also not likely to last on waivers if the Eagles tried to stash him on the practice squad. That's why their best course of action might be to see what they could get on the trade market. That could help Ricks see the field more as well.
