3 Eagles Free Agents Most Likely to Re-Sign This Offseason
By Jovan Alford
3. Zach Cunningham
The Philadelphia Eagles will likely do a major overhaul in the linebacker room. But the Eagles should look to bring back Cunningham.
The veteran defender was the Eagles’ best linebacker last season, which the team did not expect as they hoped Nakobe Dean would take over. The latter did not happen, as Dean missed a significant amount of time due to a foot injury.
As for Cunningham, he was solid against the pass this past season, which has been an issue for Philly’s defense for years.
The 29-year-old linebacker produced a 75.9 completion percentage allowed on targets and a 93.9 pass rating allowed when targeted (career-best). Cunningham had 85 combined tackles, four pass deflections, two tackles for loss, and a quarterback hit in 13 games.
Cunningham probably won’t draw a huge contract in free agency as it’s a good linebacker class, featuring Patrick Queen, Kenneth Murray Jr., Devin White, etc. Philly needs all the help it can get at linebacker, so why not re-sign Cunningham to a 1-2 year deal?
