3 Eagles Draft Busts Who Could Be Cut This Offseason
2. Zech McPhearson, cornerback
The Philadelphia Eagles used the 123rd overall pick in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft on Zech McPhearson, a worthwhile investment at one of the game's most important positions. Unfortunately, McPhearson hasn't really been able to solidify himself for the Eagles despite the fact that this team has desperately needed young players to step up at cornerback.
He appeared in 33 games over the course of his first two NFL seasons (2021-22) but missed all of last season and is now buried on the depth chart behind a number of veterans and young players who have been playing a lot in his absence.
Not to mention, the Eagles spent their top two picks in the 2024 NFL Draft on cornerbacks Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.
McPhearson played mostly special teams in his first two NFL seasons but is now going to face an uphill battle to make this roster even in that phase of the game because of players who took over his spot last year and the newcomers to the roster this year.
It looks like this offseason could be the end of the line in Philly for the former fourth-round pick out of Texas Tech.
