As good as Dallas Goedert is as the starting tight end for Philadelphia, they don't truly have a No. 2 they can lean on in the passing game. Third-year player Grant Calcaterra has just nine receptions for 120 yards in his career. There's also Albert Okwuegbunam, but despite a promising collegiate career, he wasn't successful with the Denver Broncos and carried that over to Philly where he had no catches on one target in 2023.

Their most accomplished backup is C.J. Uzomah, who was signed this offseason, but he's also coming off a frustrating campaign. Once a starter for the Cincinnati Bengals, Uzomah had 21 receptions for 232 yards and two touchdowns in 2022 for the New York Jets. That was a decline from his last season in Cincy but still far better than the eight receptions for 58 yards and a touchdown he had in 2023.

Perhaps they can get the 31-year-old back on track, but throwing more darts at the board wouldn't hurt. That could include adding a former rival in Logan Thomas.

Thomas, a quarterback at Virginia Tech, converted to tight end during his second season in the league back in 2015. He finally took off in 2020 with Washington and had 184 receptions for 1,685 yards and 14 touchdowns in four seasons with them. In 2023, he put up 496 yards and four touchdowns for the Commanders on 55 receptions.

He wouldn't be a deep threat but the 6-foot-6, 250 pounder is a weapon in the red zone and could give them another trustworthy receiving option at the position.
