The Eagles' offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland is one of the best coaches in the NFL. He has revived countless careers and turned late-round draft picks into bona fide starters. That is why the Eagles' top brass willingly takes risks when it comes to offensive linemen.

What the Eagles are trying to do with Mekhi Becton, they already did with Fred Johnson. The veteran offensive tackle who was on his way to being out of the league after the Buccaneers cut him mid-season in 2022, turned things around in Philadelphia last year. Now, he earned the swing tackle job to start the season and he credited Stoutland for this.

As great of a story as Johnson's is, he hasn't really had to prove it on the field yet. Last season, he only saw 35 offensive snaps and 78 special teams snaps. He was good in that extremely limited role but how he will fare in an expanded role this season remains to be seen. He is on a one-year deal, making him potentially vulnerable for next season.
