Mekhi Becton, OL

The Eagles signed former first-round pick Mekhi Becton to a one-year deal in the offseason, giving him a chance to revive his career. Former Louisville standout who spent the first four years of his career with the New York Jets is widely considered to be a draft bust. However, the Eagles believe in him and he is projected to start on the offensive line to begin the season.

The offensive line saw significant changes in the offseason in Philadelphia. After Jason Kelce's retirement, Cam Jurgens switched to center, opening a hole at right guard. Becton, who hasn't played right guard in his pro career so far, is taking over to start the season.

Becton was drafted as an elite tackle prospect. He almost exclusively played left tackle for the Jets other than a short stint at right tackle. Despite a strong rookie season, he hasn't been particularly effective at that lately. After missing the entire 2022 season with a knee injury, Becton hasn't been the same. Even though he started in 16 games last year, he left plenty to be desired with his performance, receiving a 53.2 overall PFF grade. He allowed 12 sacks and eight QB hits for the season.

If he has a bounce-back season in a new position, the Eagles would gladly keep him around. It's hard to see that happening after his 2023 performance.
