6. Marcus Mariota

Quarterback Marcus Mariota signed a one-year deal to join the Eagles in 2023, his third different team in three years. After stops in Las Vegas with the Raiders and Atlanta with the Falcons, he agreed to terms to be the backup for Jalen Hurts, given Hurts missed two games a season prior.

Mariota did make it into three conteests this season, but he was mostly unneeded. In those appearances, he completed 15 passes for 164 yards and 1 touchdown. Some say they would have liked to see him over a hurting Hurts in a couple of their December matchups to try to right the ship and get Hurts healthy. But Hurts went on, and the season went the way it went.

Heading into 2024, the league has several teams that may be on the market for a new look at the quarterback position. While Mariota may be comfortable with taking a backup role, there are too many opportunities that may be available for him to make one last push to be a starter in the NFL.

Hurts will be the starter in Philadelphia for the foreseeable future. So, if Mariota is looking for a starting gig, he will not find it here.
