10 Eagles Who Will Be Cut By Tuesday's Roster Deadline
By Joe Summers
7. Marlon Tuipulotu, DT
The Eagles are crowded on the defensive line, having spent high draft picks on players like Jordan Davis and Jalen Carter to bolster an experienced group. It's possible that Marlon Tuipulotu sneaks onto the 53-man roster if Philadelphia keeps six linemen, but it's more likely than not that he'll be looking for a new team this week.
Originally a sixth-round pick in the 2021 draft, Tuipulotu has appeared in 28 games for the Eagles during his three-year career. He has 43 career tackles and three sacks, notably playing in 14 contests in 2023.
His experience in the defense gives Tuipulotu a real chance to make it, and he'll be one of the more difficult cuts should Roseman decide to move in another direction. Tuipulotu is essentially battling Thomas Booker for a spot, and Booker's dominant preseason in which he notched eight tackles and four QB pressures likely gives him the edge.
At six-foot-two and 307-pounds, Tuipulotu has the ideal size to make an impact along the defensive line at some point. He's impressed in his time with the organization, especially considering he was a late-round draft choice, though the difficult math problem of roster cutdown day means he's fighting an uphill battle.
Tuipulotu would have an inside track to the practice squad if he is cut. It's rare that teams have players on the practice squad who have played in nearly 30 games with the team, so he's a priority add for the organization.
His performance during the preseason may have been enough to keep him on the roster, though it's unlikely given Booker's surge.
