The Philadelphia Eagles are the defending Super Bowl champions so it goes without saying that each and every other franchise within the NFL is now looking to knock them off of their perch. All this means is that Howie Roseman has the opportunity to work his magic, yet again, in building out a roster that is a step above the competition.
While there are no doubts as to who the top two receivers for the Eagles are, the options are dwindling if Philadelphia wants to add another veteran wideout to its roster. Questions remain with the team currenly set to enter training camp with Jahan Dotson as their primary third receiver.
Another one of those potential fits on the outside came off of the market on Monday as veteran wide receiver Robert Woods reportedly agreed to a one-year, $2 million contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers. The 32-year-old spent the last two seasons as a member of the Houston Texans and recorded a total of 60 receptions for 629 yards and one touchdown in 29 appearances, including 15 starts.
Well there goes that option for the Eagles if they want to add veteran depth at WR. 😅

There are still a few intriguing veteran free agent options for the Eagles at WR:
- Keenan Allen (unlikely)
- Amari Cooper (unlikely)
- Elijah Moore
- Tyler Boyd
- Nelson Agholor
- D.J. Chark https://t.co/8pcAn6YXAX
With Woods off of the table, there are other options still available as Anthony DiBona of the Philly Sports Network noted. Those veterans include Elijah Moore, Tyler Boyd, D.J. Chark, and a potential reunion with Nelson Agholor.
Would any of those vets offer more on the outside for Philadelphia than Dotson currently can? That is the question that Roseman and the rest of the Eagles brain trust must answer as they continue to tinker with this roster in hopes of repeating as champs.
The core pieces of that puzzle are in place for years to come. However, it is the ancillary pieces that often help make the difference between the elite franchises and those looking to get over the hump.
We'll find out soon enough just what this roster looks like once training camp opens this fall and Philadelphia officially begins its quest to remain as champions.
