For the second-straight year, baseball’s best minor league prospects will face off against each other in the 2025 Spring Breakout. For those unfamiliar with Spring Breakout, it’s a four-day event, which will see all 30 MLB teams' best prospects play each other from March 13-16 at various Spring Training locations in Florida and Arizona.
The Philadelphia Phillies will play the Pittsburgh Pirates in the one-game showcase on Mar. 14 at 1:05 p.m. in Clearwater, FL. On Thursday, the Phillies announced their roster for next week’s game, which features a ton of prospects that fans are familiar with.

Starting with pitchers, Moises Chace, who is the Phillies’ fifth-best prospect on MLB Pipeline, is on the roster. Along with Chace, Griff McGarry (30th), Jean Cabrera (11th), Mick Abel (8th), and Andrew Painter (1st) are the notable players on the mound.
However, Abel and Painter will not be active for next Friday’s showcase. Painter is still working his way back from Tommy John surgery in 2023, but he’s healthy. According to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com, the eighth-best prospect in baseball has been throwing bullpens and won’t face live hitters until extended spring training.
As for some position players, Phillies fans will want to keep an eye out, shortstop Aidan Miller and outfielder Justin Crawford are the second and third best prospects in the Phillies’ farm system.
Miller and Crawford were recently reassigned to minor league camp this week, but could be with the big league club in the near future. Along with those two guys, catcher Eduardo Tait is another intriguing prospect in the Phillies’ system.
Last season between the FCL Phillies and Single-A Clearwater, the 18-year-old hit .302 with 18 doubles, 11 home runs and 73 RBI.
Lastly, Phillies fans will see Spring Training star Gabriel Rincones Jr. Rincones Jr. has been one of the most talked about players at Spring Training this year. The 24-year-old outfielder is hitting .250 with three home runs and seven RBI.
