The Philadelphia Eagles managed to hold on to beat a very good Minnesota Vikings team on the road. The offense showed signs of life, and with wideout A.J. Brown finally being more involved, leading to a 28-22 win before head coach Nick Sirianni & Co. head home.
The Eagles snapped a two-game losing streak and are now 5-2 for the season. However, they gave up 298 passing yards and only got to Carson Wentz twice, and their pass-rush continues to be a talking point for all the wrong reasons.
With that in mind, the Eagles should take a look at the New York Jets, who continue to look for their first win of the season and might have no choice but to part ways with some of their stars. Judging by his latest tweet, EDGE rusher Jermaine Johnson II would certainly welcome a move out of Gotham.
Eagles Should Rescue DE Jermaine Johnson II From The Struggling Jets
"Laying it all out there man… something gotta give," Johnson wrote on X after the game.
That's just what Eagles general manager Howie Roseman wanted to read. According to a report by Dianna Russini of The Athletic, the Eagles are in the hunt for another edge rusher, and the Jets are already fielding calls for the 26-year-old:
"The Eagles are in search of help at edge rusher and cornerback," reported Russini. "The Jets are already getting calls on defensive end Jermaine Johnson and running back Breece Hall."
This shouldn't come as much of a surprise. The reigning Super Bowl champions lost Josh Sweat in free agency, and team legend Brandon Graham retired. Then, Nolan Smith Jr. suffered a triceps injury and was placed on injured reserve. To add insult to injury, the Eagles also lost Ogbo Okoronkwo with a triceps injury of his own.
The Eagles signed Za'Darius Smith, who suddenly retired after just a handful of games. And while reinforcements could return after the Week 9 bye, they're pretty short-handed there. In the meantime, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio will have to rely on Jalyx Hunt, Joshua Uche, and Azeez Ojulari, while defensive tackle Jalen Carter and rookie LB Jihaad Campbell can handle some snaps at defensive end.
The Jets are now thinking about the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NFL draft, and could be hungry to add more picks, opening the door for the Eagles to make an offer. Johnson has only logged one sack in three games this season, but he posted career bests in tackles (55) and sacks (7.5), passes defensed (7), interceptions (1), and forced fumbles (1) just two years ago.
Roseman never hesitates to pull the trigger if it means making the Eagles better, and Johnson is the type of pickup that could finally solve his team's woes on the outside.
