Opening Odds for Potential Eagles vs. Bills Super Bowl Disrespect Philadelphia
By Joe Summers
The Philadelphia Eagles have a potential matchup against the Buffalo Bills in the Super Bowl ahead should they make it past the Washington Commanders in the NFC Championship on Sunday.
Should Jalen Hurts and the Eagles advance, both the Bills and Kansas City Chiefs could await. Oddsmakers have released early odds on what each potential matchup could look like, surprisingly disrespecting the Philadelphia's chances should they take on Buffalo.
According to FanDuel Sportsbook's odds, the Eagles would be underdogs despite possessing one crucial advantage in the contest.
Potential Eagles vs. Bills Super Bowl Opening Odds
Spread: PHI +1.5 (-114) | BUF -1.5 (-110)
Moneyline: PHI (+106) | BUF (-124)
Total: 48.5 - Over (-110) | Under (-110)
FanDuel lists the Eagles as 1.5-point underdogs with +106 odds on the moneyline and a total set at 48.5. Moneyline odds of +106 imply a 48.48% chance of winning a Lombardi Trophy, which ignores the most important factor of this potential game.
Presumptive AP NFL Offensive Player of the Year Saquon Barkely has been one of the most dominant players in the league. Buffalo ranked 23rd in opponent yards per rush (4.6) in the regular season and were notably exposed in an early loss to the vaunted Baltimore Ravens attack.
While the Bills kept Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry at bay in the playoff game, this is still a defense that can be taken advantage of. No person alive has a better opportunity to unleash havoc than Barkley, whose singular dominance in 2024 made franchises rethink the theoretical value of the running back position.
Josh Allen and Buffalo's offense are scary, though the Eagles led the NFL in opponent yards per play (4.8). With Vic Fangio calling plays and a rebuilt secondary, few teams are as well-positioned as Philadelphia is to slow Allen down.
We'll see what the final odds end up at but for now, sportsbooks are clearly underrating this Eagles team that looks poised to win the Super Bowl.
