The Philadelphia Eagles have a few injury concerns heading into Week 1, with one of the most notable being the status of offensive lineman Landon Dickerson. The guard is such an incredibly important piece of what the Eagles want to do in the run game, and helps protect Jalen Hurts. The most obvious impact is the lack of dominance on the left side when it comes to the Tush-Push play that Philly has made so automatic throughout the past two seasons.

Missing Dickerson for any extended period of time would be a huge red flag in what is a gauntlet of a Philly schedule. It starts against the division rival Dallas Cowboys before shifting to Kansas City, where the Chiefs will be looking to get a small measure for February's shellacking in what was an incredible Super Bowl win. Despite knowing how important this news is to fans, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni is already up to his usual tricks of hiding as much information as possible, which leaves room for speculation and drama to run wild.

Eagles Head Coach Nick Sirianni Offers Zero Insight on Landon Dicker's Injury

Jeff McLane had an updated report on Landon Dickerson's injury status, noting that the head coach wouldn't reveal any information. All fans know is that it is a back injury that was suffered at a time the coach is unwilling to disclose. Whether this is simply due to protecting injury information ahead of Thursday's game or a personal reason is up for debate. Speculation is going to be invited with how evasive Sirianni was over the issue.

It seems ahead of facing an important divisional matchup Sirianni might be a little more forthcoming. Even if Dickerson does miss time, the Eagles have enough of a talent advantage over the Cowboys to secure the game. It isn't a huge advantage to hide a player's injury status ahead of the league's Thursday opener.

Keeping fans and pundits in the dark on Dickerson's status is also a short-lived decision as McLane points out. Late Tuesday practice will expose whether or not the left guard is taking the field and able to move a step closer towards returning to action. It would be obviously ideal to start the season with your complete starting offense in place. Still, it is better to be extra careful with a vital piece.

Philly can survive Week 1 without Dickerson if the guard is going ot benefit from another week off. Playing on Thursday only furthers this case with the Eagles being given extra time to prepare to go to Arrowhead and take on a group that will have the full focus of Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes.

For Sirianni, hopefully, this isn't a sign of things to come throughout the 2025 season when it comes to providing updates. Exactly what fans love about the coach can work to his detriment. There is an undeniable Philly edge to the Super Bowl champ and it at times can come out when being pressed for updates.

Tuesday's practice should shed light on exactly where Dickerson stands, as we are nearly 48 hours from the Eagles season finally getting underway with the franchise raising its 2024 banner to help set the tone.
