NFL Just Punished Eagles for Struggles Again With Latest Week 9 Decision
By Jovan Alford
The Philadelphia Eagles have been flexed out of a particular time slot for the second time this season.
According to Eliot Shorr-Parks of 94WIP, the Eagles’ Week 9 contest against the Jacksonville Jaguars will now be at 4:05 p.m. ET instead of Sunday Night Football. The Week 9 game will be televised on CBS.
Instead of Eagles-Jaguars on Sunday Night Football for Week 9, the NFL is giving that time slot to the Minnesota Vikings who will be going on the road to play the Indianapolis Colts.
Last week, the NFL announced that the Eagles’ Week 8 road game against the Cincinnati Bengals would get flexed out of the 4:25 p.m. ET slot and pushed to 1 p.m. ET on CBS. The league put the Chicago Bears-Washington Commanders showdown in that 4:25 p.m. ET window.
It’s not surprising the league moved the Eagles-Jaguars game out of the SNF spot, especially Jacksonville’s struggles this season. Philly had a rocky first four games to start the season (2-2) but has rebounded nicely with back-to-back wins over the Cleveland Browns and New York Giants.
Meanwhile, the Jaguars picked up their second win in the past three games over the New England Patriots on Sunday after starting the regular season 0-4.
If the Jaguars were playing at least .500 football, you could’ve made a case for the league to stick with the game for SNF. That said, the Eagles will try to handle business against Cincy and Jacksonville over the next two weeks before a showdown with the Dallas Cowboys in Week 10.
