The 2024 NFL campaign couldn't have gone better for the Philadelphia Eagles, who capped off the 93rd season in franchise history with a Super Bowl 59 victory. While there was plenty to celebrate throughout the season, the celebrations are officially in the rearview now that the offseason has begun.
The Eagles haven't wasted any time adding new faces through free agency, including long-snapper Charley Hughlett. The veteran special teamer was released by the Cleveland Browns last month, allowing him to head to Philadelphia on a one-way contract last week.
Hughlett was finally introduced to the local media on Monday, giving Eagles fans their first glimpse at the newest signee. He talked about various topics, including when he provided a positive update on an injury that sidelined him for the majority of the 2024 season.
Eagles News: Charley Hughlett Fully Recovered After Rib Injury
Hughlett, 34, played nine consecutive seasons for the Browns without missing a game. That streak ended last season when he injured his ribs in Week 5, keeping him out of the remainder of the campaign. Fortunately, the veteran long snapper that his injury is no longer an issue.
"Within four or five weeks of that (rib) injury, I was ready to go," Hughlett revealed on Monday. "I've been pretty healthy for a while now and I'm ready to get back to work."

Even though special teams-related signings aren't always exciting, Hughlett's addition is noteworthy news in the City of Brotherly Love. He's only the fourth long snapper that the Eagles have rostered since 2000 and will be replacing free-agent Rick Lovato, who held the role since 2016.
Lovato's performances declined in recent years, though, opening the door for Hughlett to make his way to town.
As mentioned before, the former Central Florida product bleeds experience, currently ranking 15th in Browns history with 152 appearances despite going undrafted in 2012. Hughlett was often one of the best players at his position throughout that 10-season stretch, finishing with a Pro Football Focus special teams grade of 73.0 or better in seven of the last nine years.
Hopefully, now that he's healed, Hughlett will continue having similar performances with the Eagles. Even though there's no complaining about a Super Bowl win, improving the special teams was a must this offseason after recording the 17th-best grade (77.9) last season.
Assuming he remains healthy, Hughlett could play a big role in any potential success Nick Sirianni's team sees in 2025. Speaking of which, the Eagles are currently FanDuel Sportsbook's +600 favorite to repeat as Super Bowl Champions next season.
