Myles Garrett Clearly Regrets Picking Money Over Eagles This Offseason

Money doesn't make bad situations better and Garrett is realizing that now.

In the offseason, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that the Philadelphia Eagles’ interest in trading for Cleveland Browns superstar pass rusher Myles Garrett was “real.”

As we know, a trade for Garrett didn’t happen with the Eagles or any other team, as he signed a hefty four-year, $160 million contract extension in March. At the time, people thought it was surprising for Garrett to request a trade after signing another deal to stay in Cleveland.

Fast forward months later, and it seems like Garrett might be regretting his decision to stay with the Browns, who are now 1-5 after losing on Sunday afternoon to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Myles Garrett Not Pleased with How Things Are Going in Cleveland After Another Loss

According to Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, the veteran defender was asked if it's harder to dig deep and continue to keep pressing despite the losses. Garrett responded with one word, “Yup.”

The 29-year-old pass rusher also told reporters following Sunday’s loss, “It’s tough. That’s all I can say,” per ESPN’s Daniel Oyefusi. According to Oyefusi, Garrett added that it “must be nice” when asked what goes through his mind when he sees the Steelers’ pass rushers getting after the QB with a lead.

It’s clear the superstar defender is not happy with what’s going on right now with the Browns, but at the same time, he knew what to expect when he decided to re-up with a new contract in the offseason.

The Browns were going to be in rebuild mode, unlike the Eagles, who were coming off a Super Bowl win.

Looking back at it, if you’re the Eagles, you wish Garrett hadn’t signed the contract extension, as you could use him on your defensive line. He would be an instant upgrade over Josh Uche, Za’Darius Smith, and Azeez Ojulari, who are all on one-year deals and trying to replace what the team lost in Josh Sweat.

Heading into Week 6, Garrett had 21 combined tackles, 13 quarterback pressures, eight tackles for loss, eight QB hits, and four sacks. Against the Steelers on Sunday, Garrett only mustered two combined tackles.

One can only imagine what Garrett would’ve been able to do if he had joined the Eagles and had the chance to play next to Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith Jr. However, that’s a hypothetical at this point, as Garrett made his choice to stay in Cleveland and not try to join a contender.
