It seems that the Philadelphia Eagles' dreams of adding an elite edge rusher in the 2026 offseason have found new life. Star pass rusher Max Crosby recently spoke on his first time playing in Philly and was glowing in his praise of the atmosphere and the fan base.
Crosby's comments came courtesy of All About the Birds, with the veteran disruptor noting that he enjoyed playing for “true fan bases that love their city and team." This is high praise that Crosby continued to offer, ending his soliloquy by talking about dreaming of playing in such a place in a quote that is only going to further fan hope that perhaps Crosby might start 2026 in an Eagles' uniform.
"I took a couple dope-ass pictures because this is like my first time ever playing there. If you love football, that’s what you dream of as a kid, playing in Philadelphia in December in a grimy-ass environment. That is exactly what you dream for. So I loved it."Maxx Crosby, Raiders DE
Understandably, this is going to lead to many fans running possible trade scenarios, wondering just how elite the Eagles' defense might be with Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis on the inside wreaking havoc and setting up for Crosby.
Maxx Crosby Sounds Like He Wants to Be an Eagle
While Crosby obviously isn't campaigning for a trade, this isn't going to stop Philly fans from taking this obvious respect and turning it into something deeper. Admittedly, if there was one clear addition that this roster needs, it is the presence of a star edge rusher. Even on a hopeless 2-12 Las Vegas Raiders team, the four-time Pro Bowler has still managed to pile up 10.0 sacks on the season with an interception and two forced fumbles.
He's also generated 51 pressures, per Pro Football Focus, which is one more than current Eagles team leader Jalyx Hunt (50).
While there has been no hint of a potential trade for the Raiders, it is important to note that this has been another lost season, and Crosby's clock is quickly running out. He might demand a trade to a contender in the 2026 offseason if he feels like his Super Bowl window is closing, and especially if he's lost faith in the Raiders' directionless path.
Philadelphia's 2025 edge rush was so underwhelming that the team opted to bring Brandon Graham out of retirement while leaning on a rotation of Hunt, Nolan Smith, Jaelan Phillips, and Josh Uche. This paints a clear picture of why the franchise would be an ideal potential landing spot for Crosby, and that'll be truer if they can find a way to bring Phillips back, too.
Looking at it from the defender's perspective, it is impossible to believe Crosby wouldn't want to join what would be the most talented defensive roster he's had in his career. Playing on a defensive line with Davis and Carter would hand the star legitimate hopes of finishing with 15-20 sacks based on the attention that the inside duo demands.
Still, it is important to note that there is no true substance here, with Philly fans simply reacting to the comments of a player clearly respecting their organization. As great as it'd be to see Crosby on the home side of Lincoln Financial Field next season, a lot more needs to happen to turn a dream trade into a reality for the Eagles.
