The Philadelphia Eagles are seeking to defend their Super Bowl title as the playoffs are right around the corner. Meanwhile, many teams have turned the page on this season and are focused on how they'll make changes in 2026.
The Las Vegas Raiders are in a prime position to land the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL draft and are reportedly open to moving on from head coach Pete Carroll. There will be a lot of movement in Las Vegas, and it looks like defensive edge Maxx Crosby could be one of the pieces shipped out of town.
The Athletic's Dianna Russini wrote on Saturday, "Maxx Crosby’s Raiders future is also being questioned around the league. Las Vegas shut down its five-time Pro Bowler last week against his wishes, and the relationship between the sides remains strained. It’s a dramatic shift from just two months ago, when Crosby and Davis nixed any trade discussions ahead of the Nov. 4 deadline." She added, " Many believe Las Vegas will be open to moving its star pass rusher if the relationship remains at an impasse, allowing Crosby, who will turn 29 this summer, an opportunity to compete on a team built to win now."
And with Crosby potentially up for grabs, the Eagles could be in perfect position to trade for a superstar edge rusher.
Maxx Crosby May Be on the Move and Eagles Could Pounce
It's been a rocky year between the Raiders and Crosby. Ahead of the Week 17 contest against the New York Giants, Las Vegas let Crosby know they planned to shut him down for the rest of the year, which didn't land well with the star pass rusher. He ended up leaving the building after he "vehemently disagreed" with the team's decision, according to Fox Sports' Jay Glazer.
With Crosby only experiencing one winning season in seven total campaigns with the Raiders, he'll be looking to find a new home for 2026 and beyond, making Philadelphia an interesting landing spot. The Eagles were interested in trading for Myles Garrett ahead of the trade deadline before the Browns turned them away; they should do the same with Crosby.
There was a clear interest in improving the pass rush, leading to them trading for Jaelen Phillips. He has made plays since setting foot in Philadelphia, but Crosby is in a different stratosphere. The 28-year-old has made the Pro Bowl for five straight years and is a true game wrecker off the edge.
In 110 career games, Crosby has compiled 164 QB hits, 133 TFLs, 69.5 sacks, 29 pass deflections, and 11 forced fumbles. Teams have zeroed in on Crosby, but it doesn't stop him from generating pressure.
Ahead of the 2025 season, he signed a three-year, $106.5 million extension, which keeps him under team control through 2029. His cap hit of $35 million in 2026 is the highest number remaining on his deal, as it drops to $29 million in 2027, $27 million in 2028, and $28 million in 2029.
The Eagles would likely need to part ways with at least a second-round pick to land Crosby, but it could be worth it and provide them with a superstar edge. Although the Eagles just gave up a third-round pick to trade for Phillips, moving on from a second-rounder or even a first, since it would be late in the round anyway, would be intriguing. The Eagles already have Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis on the interior with Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean in the secondary. So, the addition of Crosby could take this defense to another level.
We all know that Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is aggressive when it comes to improving this team, and the idea of bringing Crosby into the fray will certainly cross his mind.
