The Philadelphia Eagles' potential path to keeping star tight end Dallas Goedert just grew more complicated this week with the Baltimore Ravens extending Mark Andrews. Despite being an aging option, Andrews garnered a $39.3 million extension that will keep the pass catcher under contract for the next three years with $26 million in guarantees. It is easy to imagine that Goedert's camp is paying special attention to this deal and is taking notes with the tight end slated to hit free agency at the end of the 2025 season.

With this in mind, it is fair to wonder if the deal has pushed Goedert out of the comfort zone of the Eagles. Already, you're paying A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith top dollar at the receiver position. This leaves little room to spend at tight end or shoring up the depth chart at either position. For Goedert to re-sign, the tight end is going to have to value the chance to contend over anything else.

This seems incredibly unlikely based on how the 2025 season is playing out, with Philadelphia's consistent offensive struggles making it far less attractive as a potential landing spot. Still, there are other clear potential fits for the Eagles if Andrews' extension has pushed Goedert out of Philly's comfort zone.

Eagles Re-singing Dallas Goedert Far Less Likely After Latest Edwards Extension

It should be noted that Goedert reworked his contract ahead of the 2025 season to give the Eagles more cap flexibility. The veteran took a discount, and it seemed from this action that the Eagles simply didn't have a high sense of urgency in paying Goedert top dollar for the future. It would've been easy to re-sign Goedert and push money into the future. Instead, the Eagles opted to keep it a one-year deal, showing a level of hesitancy to pay the pass catcher.

Now, not only is Goedert's potential price going up based on the signing of Andrews, but you have one less elite tight end hitting the market. One could easily argue that Goedert will be the top name to hit the market. Isaiah Likely and David Njoku are the only other names of note now that Andrews has been removed from free agency.

Travis Kelce is slated to be a free agent as well, but clearly is either going to retire or return to the Kansas City Chiefs. This leaves little debate that Goedert will be the top player at the position slated to hit the market. This opens up the opportunity for a payday that it simply seems impossible for the tight end to pass up.

Painting a clear picture as to why Baltimore's recent deal has all but sealed an exit for Goedert, who will have the ultimate chance to cash in. Making it very unlikely that Philly can retain a key piece of an offense that is clearly going to have many questions to answer in the 2026 offseason.
