Latest Eagles Injury Report Highlights Major Offseason Mistake
The Philadelphia Eagles are 4-2 as they head into Week 8. They came out of their bye and won two games in a row.
Although they have secured some much-needed victories, it hasn't been all positive vibes. Jordan Mailata was placed on injured reserve after he suffered a hamstring injury in Week 6. He wasn't the only guy to suffer an injury, as tight end Dallas Goedert also had a hamstring injury.
Goedert missed last week's contest against the New York Giants, and things aren't trending in the right direction for Sunday. Which will infuriate the fanbase.
Eagles News: Dallas Goedert Missed Thursday’s Practice
Per Jeff McLane, Goedert wasn't at Eagles practice. The expectation is that he'll miss this week's contest.
That will ruffle the feathers of fans who wanted the team to bring back Zach Ertz this offseason. Back in March, Ertz joined the Washington Commanders on a one-year, $3 million deal. In 2024, he's reeled in 25 receptions for 268 yards and one touchdown. Ertz has been a reliable weapon in the passing attack.
Meanwhile, in Philadelphia, the Eagles have to rely on Grant Calcaterra. The SMU product has been underwhelming, logging nine receptions for 128 yards. Last week, in his lone start, Calcaterra had just one catch for five yards.
The Eagles would have been wise to bring back Ertz and give them a stable floor at tight end. Instead, they decided to roll with unproven commodities at the position and are dealing with the ramifications early on in the season.
