With Super Bowl 59 and the parade now in the rearview mirror, the Philadelphia Eagles can turn their attention to the offseason, starting first with free agency.

The newly crowned Super Bowl champions have multiple impending free agents, who may or may not return to Philadelphia next season. One of those free agents is offensive lineman Mekhi Becton, who went from a first-round pick bust with the New York Jets to a starting right guard on a Super Bowl team.

Becton was one of the biggest surprise stories in the NFL this past season. The Eagles moved the former first-round pick from tackle to guard, where he flourished under the direction of Jeff Stoutland.

Spotrac.com projects Becton’s calculated market value at a four-year, $40.9 million deal. If that’s the projected rate for Becton, the Eagles could have some competition for the young lineman, who outplayed his one-year contract.

However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter believes Becton could stay in Philadelphia based on his current situation with the Eagles.

"Now, could there be a team out there that throws silly money at him and makes it a moot point - absolutely that's what free agency is about. But I think he's smart enough after what he went through in New York, and what he went through in Philadelphia this year, to recognize, 'You know what, this is pretty good. I'm in a great spot, with a great line, and a great coach, let's continue this. I might not get quite as much as l might in another city, but it's going to be more valuable and beneficial for me to be here.' So, I think there's a real chance that he winds up staying."

Schefter also mentioned that Becton chose to go to the Eagles last offseason because he believed Stoutland could help rebuild his career, which ultimately happened. According to PFF, Becton had a good 75.2 overall grade (ranked 21st among 135 qualified guards) and an outstanding run-blocking grade of 74.7 (ranked 19th).

Becton’s pass protection has room for improvement with a 63.6 grade, but he only gave up three sacks in 903 offensive snaps. However, with potentially more tutelage from Stoutland, Becton could become a Pro Bowler in 2025 at guard.

Nonetheless, Eagles fans hope that Becton does stay with the team and wants to be a part of one of the best offensive lines in the league.
