The Philadelphia Eagles are busy preparing for a Super Bowl rematch against the Kansas City Chiefs next Sunday, though general manager Howie Roseman and his staff are always thinking about the future.

This is one of the deepest rosters in the NFL, yet it's growing older at multiple key positions. Guys like Brandon Graham are expected to retire, but another valued member of the team just announced he's coming back in 2025 no matter what.

Five-time All-Pro offensive tackle Lane Johnson, who has spent his entire 12-year career in Philadelphia, officially told reporters on Saturday that he is not going to retire after this season.

Lane Johnson Announces He's Playing for Eagles in 2025

Widely considered to be one of the best offensive linemen of this generation, Johnson graded seventh out of 141 qualified tackles at Pro Football Focus this year. He was a second-team All-Pro and made the Pro Bowl, so it's clear that Johnson still has plenty of juice left in the tank.

Originally the fourth-overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, Johnson has become synonymous with Eagles football and the sports scene in Philadelphia. He said that win or lose the Super Bowl, he'll be playing in 2025. After that, he'll decide on a year-to-year basis.

So much of this Philadelphia offense has been built around a stout offensive line. Legendary center Jason Kelce has already retired, and though the Eagles still have a great group in place, Roseman needs to continue developing players to replace guys like Johnson once they eventually retire.

Johnson is signed through the 2026 season. He carries a cap hit of over $22 million in 2026, so perhaps that'd be a more logical time for him to hang up the cleats. Either way, it seems like the Eagles will have him as long as he wants to stay.

For now, Philadelphia is a 1.5-point underdog at FanDuel Sportsbook in the Super Bowl to Kansas City. We know Johnson is playing next season regardless, yet the offseason will be a lot more fun if the Eagles go out on top.
