The 2025 regular season doesn't kick off until September, but the Philadelphia Eagles picked up their first win of the year on Wednesday when the proposal to outlaw the "Tush Push" did not receive enough votes to pass.

The Eagles made numerous impassioned pleas to league owners not to pass the proposal, including speeches from team owner Jeffrey Lurie and former center Jason Kelce. Those weren't the only cards that Philadelphia had to play, though. Nick Sirianni made it known he expected his former coordinators to side with the Eagles and the play that helped launch their respective head coaching careers.

"We’ll see how it goes," Sirianni said. "All I will say about it is (Jonathan) Gannon, (Shane) Steichen and (Kellen) Moore better vote for it. They are in the (head coach) position right now because of that play. So all three, I better have those three votes right there and the Eagles’ vote. I at least know we have four.”

Well, as we know, the proposal fell short of the 24 votes needed to be approved and implemented by the league. While Sirianni is certainly happy about that, the only former staff member who worked under him to be on Philadelphia's side of the vote was Moore, and the Saints.

Jonathan Gannon's Arizona Cardinals and Shane Steichen's Indianapolis Colts voted to outlaw the "Tush Push," but those decisions did not impact the Eagles' quest to keep the offensive scheme alive.

While Sirianni may have some choice words for Gannon and Steichen the next time they cross paths, the decision to vote against the "Tush Push" was ultimately up to the owners of the Cardinals and Colts and not the head coaches.

All that mattered to Philadelphia's coaching staff and front office was to come out on the winning side of this vote, and that is precisely what happened.
