The Philadelphia Eagles' training camp is officially underway, meaning it won't be long until head coach Nick Sirianni and his staff begin their annual roster cuts. There's a limited number of 53-man roster spots to go around, and the Eagles only have room for the most efficient contributors when they chase a second consecutive Super Bowl title next season.

Even though there's plenty of time to trim the fat, the Eagles haven't wasted time making their first training camp cuts. Philadelphia waived defensive end K.J. Henry and running back Lew Nichols earlier this week, leaving the duo to desperately search for a new home with less than two months to go before the 2025 NFL regular season begins.

Finding a new home can take a while for some players, which is why one of the recently released Eagles should be grateful that he's already landed a new NFL opportunity.

Former Eagles DE K.J. Henry Claimed by Browns After Philly Release

On Thursday, NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported that the Cleveland Browns have claimed Henry after the veteran pass rusher was waived by the Eagles. Whether or not he makes the Browns' final roster remains to be seen; however, it's clear they liked the ex-Eagle enough to claim him before another team could snatch him up.

Time will tell if Henry will impress the Browns more than he did the Eagles. Cleveland already has a talented defensive line that features names like Myles Garrett, Mason Graham, and Maliek Collins, meaning the former Philadelphia defender will likely be competing for one of the few backup spots.

Drafted 137th overall by the Washington Commanders in 2023, Henry also spent time with the Cincinnati Bengals and Dallas Cowboys before being signed to the Eagles' practice squad in November. Although he didn't play a single game for Philadelphia, the franchise still awarded him a Super Bowl 59 ring

In 14 career outings split between the Commanders, Bengals, and Cowboys, Henry has only tallied 15 solo tackles, 2.5 sacks, and a pair of broken-up passes. He also tallied Pro Football Focus grades of 70.6 for tackling and 56.5 for overall defense in 2024.

Interestingly enough, the Eagles are scheduled to face the Browns in a preseason showdown at Lincoln Financial Field on Saturday, Aug. 16. Philadelphia fans will be watching that game to see if Henry can prove that his ex-employer cut him a bit too early.
