Former Philadelphia Eagles pass rusher Haason Reddick hasn’t appeared in a regular season game with the New York Jets after being traded to the Big Apple this offseason. Reddick is still in a long-standing contract holdout with no end in sight.

When Reddick was traded to the Jets there was an expectation that a contract extension would be agreed to between both sides. The Jets would love to have the All-Pro pass rusher on the field as they have the talent to be one of the best defenses in the league.

On Tuesday, Jets owner Woody Johnson made a shocking plea to Reddick when speaking with reporters after the team parted ways with head coach Robert Saleh.

“Haason, get in your car, drive down 95, and come to the New York Jets and we can meet you and give you an escort right in the building,” Johnson said (h/t Connor Hughes of SNY.tv). “You’ll fit right in, love it here, feel welcome, and accomplish great things.”

With the Jets making a monumental change at head coach, Johnson must believe this is the perfect time to try and entice Reddick to get back into the building. Thus far, the Jets’ defense has survived without Reddick as they are ranked fourth in sacks (18) and second in passing yards allowed (136.6).

New York’s next five games are against the Buffalo Bills (home), Pittsburgh Steelers (away), New England Patriots (away), Houston Texans (home), and the Arizona Cardinals (away). New York obviously won’t have Reddick for this week’s game against the Bills, but for the Jets’ sake, it would be nice to have him on the field before the calendar turns to November.
