The Philadelphia Eagles are facing a new obstacle as they prepare for Week 15's showdown against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Eagles fans were left surprised when quarterback Jalen Hurts' name popped up on the team's injury report following Wednesday's practice. It didn't take The Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane long to confirm that the 26-year-old signal-caller is dealing with a "left finger injury" heading into this weekend's action.

While hand-related injuries are scary, they're even more concerning when they've been picked up by a quarterback, who needs their hands to succeed.

Fortunately, the issue might not be as bad as it sounds.

McLane added that, despite the ailment, Hurts "was still deemed a full participant in a walkthrough" on Wednesday.

The injury is also on the ex-QB's non-throwing hand, meaning there isn't any indication yet that he won't be facing the Steelers. Hurts was listed as a full participant on Thursday's injury report.

Hurts' injury is on the same finger he had taped up during Week 14's 22-16 win over the Carolina Panthers. Even though he still managed to suit up, the former Oklahoma QB's fingers may still have bothered him considering how he only completed 14 passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns without an interception.

In fact, Hurts has only failed to reach the 200-yard mark six times this season and half of those instances occurred in his last three outings, suggesting that his finger injury might be older than reported.

Regardless of the injury's severity, the Eagles need Hurts to be fully healthy if they're going to chase a Super Bowl. The two-time Pro Bowl gunslinger has played a big role in the franchise's success this year, passing for 16 touchdowns (to five interceptions) and 2,602 yards while turning 132 carries into another 544 yards and an NFL-best 13 rushing TDs.

Even though Hurts is banged up, Philadelphia's immediate outlook is still promising. The Eagles are the early 5.5-point home favorite on FanDuel Sportsbook against the Steelers in a game where the over/under on the total is 42.5 points.
