The bad blood between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Dallas Cowboys is well-documented. These two teams dislike one another and that has been the case for as long as fans in Philadelphia can remember.

Unfortunately, the hatred between the two sides led to the defending champions losing defensive end Jalen Carter for the game before a single snap was taken in their season opener. After approaching the Cowboys' huddle after the opening kick, Carter and Dak Prescott had words with one another. For some reason, this led Carter to spit in the chest of Dallas' signal caller, and he was immediately ejected for his actions.

With his untimely ejection, Carter joins a short list of well-known Eagles to have been sent to the locker room early for their actions on the field.

While there is little precedent for Carter to be suspended for his actions during the Eagles' season opener, an additional financial penalty on top of Thursday night's ejection is very much a possibility.

Carter is now the seventh Philadelphia player to be ejected from a game since 2000. Several of these former Eagles suffered major financial penalties as a result. While it seems unlikely that Carter will be fined $100,000 like fans saw during the 2023 season when famed security chief "Big Dom" was removed from the sidelines following an incident against the San Francisco 49ers, as you can see from the table below, it is unlikely that this will be an "ejection only" incident like some of the others below.

Not only were Carter's actions selfish, but they put his teammates behind the 8-ball against a team that, while outmanned, still had plenty to prove after being written off by the rest of the league for trading Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.

Regardless of what the NFL decides to do with Carter following Thursday night's incident, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni will undoubtedly have thoughts on the matter that he will share with the standout defensive lineman as well as the media.
