The Philadelphia Eagles are in crisis mode. Their second straight loss of the season came embarrassingly to the New York Giants on Thursday, highlighting everything that has been plaguing them all season. The offensive struggles have dominated the discussion, and offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo is rightfully at the center of all criticism. Yet, this shouldn't take away from disappointing individual performances.

While the Eagles have obvious problems they need to fix, players also have to take accountability. Among those is wide receiver Jahan Dotson.

Dotson's first season with the Eagles was a quiet one, which was chalked up to his arriving after training camp and right before the start of the season. He eventually settled in and was a contributor in the postseason, elevating fans' expectations in 2025. Instead, it has been more of the same from the 25-year-old WR.

Jahan Dotson Continues to Make No Impact for the Eagles

While AJ Brown's frustrations, Saquon Barkley's lack of touches have obviously been bigger topics, Dotson not doing anything on offense for a second straight season should also be taken seriously. Dotson has played 61% of the offensive snaps this season, but has only seven catches in 12 targets for 111 yards. He has yet to score a regular-season touchdown as an Eagle in 23 games.

If we remove Week 1, Dotson has four catches in nine targets for 52 yards. He had two targets against the Giants, one of them resulting in a costly late-game interception. The blame falls on quarterback Jalen Hurts there, but Dotson going for long stretches in a game without making any impact has been very disappointing.

The Eagles traded significant draft capital to acquire Dotson. In the 2024 offseason, they sent a 2025 third-round pick and two seventh-round picks to the Washington Commanders for Dotson and a 2025 fifth-round pick. The hope was that Dotson would thrive in a WR3 role with Brown and DeVonta Smith getting most of the defensive attention. Even with Patullo prioritizing the pass over the run this season, Dotson hasn't been able to take advantage of being surrounded by elite playmakers.

That trade now looks like a disastrous decision. Dotson currently ranks as the 104th-best wide receiver in the league, per Pro Football Focus (52.6), out of 117 eligible players. He is obviously not the biggest problem among the Eagles' litany of issues; however, that doesn't change how the team needs to get more out of Dotson or replace him with a more reliable contributor.
