NFL teams still haven't learned to avoid calls from Philadelphia Eagles GM Howie Roseman. The ever-active deal maker was back at it again Thursday night, as he executed a small-yet-impactful trade toward the end of the first round.
Roseman convinced the Kansas City Chiefs to send the Eagles the No. 31 pick in exchange for No. 32 and a fifth-rounder (No. 164). This allowed Philly to then take Alabama standout Jihaad Campbell, who is already in immediate contention to be the steal of the draft.
After the move was official and Howie got his guy, he made sure to celebrate adding a difference-maker of Campbell's caliber.

Roseman seemed to hint the rest of his counterparts got it wrong on the Crimson Tide stud, highlighting that Campbell was in the top 10 of Philadelphia's draft board. The Eagles GM also called it an "easy pick," demonstrating how confident he is in the pass rusher.
This very well may be a selection other teams look back on and wonder how they weren't the ones to make it. Campbell flashed serious potential during his senior campaign in 2024, racking up 5.0 sacks, two forced fumbles and even adding an interception.
His knack for causing turnovers is obvious, but his 117 total tackles were also No. 4 in the powerful SEC, showcasing a high motor to make the necessary plays, too. And he regularly made offenses lose yards as well with 12 tackles for loss in 2024 to boot.
Though Campbell didn't have double-digit sacks or a long track record of production in college, which likely caused his fall in the first round, the makings of a Pro Bowl defender are all there. Now Campbell will go to the best developmental franchise in the entire NFL where he'll have a chance to discover his full potential -- and that should terrify the rest of the league.
