The Eagles' front office is widely and appropriated regarded as one of the very best in the NFL, and now it looks like general manager Howie Roseman could lose one of his most trusted voices.

Assistant GM Alec Halaby, who is in his 17th season with the organization, will reportedly interview with the New York Jets for their vacant GM position. He's served a variety of roles in Philadelphia and should remain a coveted candidate across the league even if the Jets wind up going in a different direction.

With the Eagles preparing for an NFC Wild Card showdown with the Packers after earning the No. 2 seed in the playoffs, Halaby's great work in helping build this roster will be on full display.

Eagles Assistant GM Alec Halaby to Interview for Jets Position

New York's meddling ownership and poor culture stand in stark contrast to what Halaby is used to in Philadelphia. Roseman runs a tight ship, while the Jets seemingly can't get out of their own way. Perhaps Halaby wouldn't want that specific job if he's offered it, but it's wise regardless to see if there's mutual interest.

Halaby originally joined the Eagles as an intern and worked his way up, serving as a special assistant to the general manager, player personnel assistant, vice president of football operations and strategy, and now assistant general manager.

It's a neat story that someone could progress in such a way throughout the franchise, and 17 years is nothing to scoff at. The Eagles are consistently excellent, largely due to the stability within the most important roles, and Roseman would likely prefer to keep Halaby for as long as possible.

He's earned the right to pursue whatever opportunities are available to him. For now, Philadelphia is determined to beat Green Bay. FanDuel Sportsbook has the Eagles as 4.5-point favorites with +650 odds to win the Super Bowl. What a perfect parting gift that'd be for Halaby.
