The Philadelphia Eagles' offense has been one of the main talking points in NFL circles this season. They've regressed from the Kellen Moore days, with all players and the team taking a big step back from their Super Bowl-winning season.

However, as bad as things have been, head coach Nick Sirianni continues to stand by Kevin Patullo. He's already made it loud and clear that the first-year offensive coordinator will continue to call plays, and he's not going to fire him, either. However, that doesn't mean that he couldn't find him some help, and with Frank Reich suddenly becoming unemployed, he might be the answer to this team's prayers.

Nick Sirianni Should Get Frank Reich on the Phone

Reich took the reins of the Stanford Cardinal as an interim head coach this season. He led them to a 4-8 record, and while that's not impressive at all, it's not like he had a lot of talent to work with. Now, the Eagles should bring him as a consultant for the final stretch of the season.

Sirianni has talked about him as one of his mentors, and it's also worth noting that he has ties to the organization. Reich was Doug Pederson's offensive coordinator during the franchise's first Super Bowl run. As a former quarterback and offensive guru, he could give this team a much-needed outside perspective.

Granted, while he's always been known as a player's coach and a leader, Reich's head-coaching tenures haven't ended well. He went 4-15-1 in his final year with the Indianapolis Colts and his brief tenure with the Carolina Panthers. Still, all that previous head-coaching experience and his background could certainly come in handy.

Through 12 games, the Eagles have put up just 22.5 points per game, which ranks 19th in the league. They're 23rd in passing yards per game (196.2), 22nd in rushing yards per game (108.5), 24th in total yards per game (318.0), and rank 28th in third-down conversion percentage at just 34.5%.

This is far from what one would expect from a team featuring the likes of Saquon Barkley, DeVonta Smith, and A.J. Brown. And while Jalen Hurts' execution hasn't always been on point, this is clearly a scheme and play-calling thing.

Sirianni is going to stay loyal to his assistant coach and friend, even at the expense of the team's success. But with all the chatter about the poor job he's done in charge of the offense, he should look to make life easier for himself by bringing in a veteran.

The Eagles will close out the season with two divisional matchups with the Washington Commanders and games against the Los Angeles Chargers, Las Vegas Raiders, and Buffalo Bills. And with an 8-4 record and the Cowboys getting hot, they can't afford their pedestrian offense to hold them back for much longer.
