Former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Jalen Reagor has bounced around the NFL over the past few years since the Eagles traded him in August 2022. The former first-round pick spent some time with the Minnesota Vikings (2022), New England Patriots (2023), and Los Angeles Chargers (2024).
The ex-Eagle struggled to stick with the Vikings and Patriots, but it seems like he’s settled down with the Chargers. Los Angeles re-signed Reagor to a one-year deal this offseason after signing him to the practice squad last season.
That said, despite getting re-signed, the veteran wideout still has to perform in OTAs to keep his spot on the 53-man roster. The Chargers started OTAs on Wednesday, and Reagor has already drawn the ire of the fan base.
Former Eagle Jalen Reagor Starts OTAs on the Wrong Foot
ESPN’s Kris Rhim reported that Reagor dropped a pass from Justin Herbert, which a defender picked off. Drops were an issue for Reagor with the Eagles, as he had five drops in two years.
As you can imagine, Chargers fans on social media were not pleased to hear that even in OTAs. The ex-Eagle appeared in eight games last season with LA, playing 28% of offensive snaps and 15% on special teams.
Reagor wasn’t one of the Chargers’ top pass-catching threats, as he only had seven receptions (12 targets) for 100 yards. Nonetheless, Reagor will need to limit the drops as the Chargers’ WR room is stacked with Ladd McConkey, Quentin Johnston, Mike Williams, Tre Harris (rookie), and KeAndre Lambert-Smith (rookie).
The former Eagle has struggled to live up to his first-round selection thus far in the NFL, but he’s found a way to stay in the league, which is half the battle. Given the talent on LA’s roster, he will have a fight on his hands to make the 53-man roster this summer.
