The Philadelphia Eagles have seen several faces come and go in recent years as the rest of the NFL tries to cherry-pick the top performers on their roster in hopes of catching up to the defending Super Bowl champions.
While it remains to be seen just how his tenure with the New England Patriots will ultimately play out, former Eagles star defensive lineman Milton Williams received a major pay day this offseason and is already embracing the new style of coaching he is receiving.
After spending several years working under Nick Sirianni, Williams joined a Patriots roster being led by former player Mike Vrabel, and the approach of the no-nonsense head coach has already made an impression on the former third-round pick out of Louisiana Tech.
Milton Williams Embracing New Coaching Style After Leaving Philadelphia
Williams made sure to lead by example in his first go-round with New England's offseason program. Not only did he attend every scheduled OTA this spring, but he has also embraced the tough-minded approach it takes to play for a head coach who is as demanding of his star players as Vrabel will be with the Patriots.
This isn't to suggest that Sirriani isn't pushing his players to be the best versions of themselves they can be on the field. His style is just a bit different than Vrabel's, and there is nothing wrong with that. The proof is in the pudding, and after a dominant Super Bowl victory over the Chiefs, there is no one out there questioning how the head coach of the Eagles handles his business.
Considering he signed the largest contract in the history of New England's franchise, there is no reason for Eagles fans to be critical of Williams making a decision that will set his family up financially for life. That understanding from fans likely will be forgotten, though, the next time these two teams share the field.
