The Philadelphia Eagles have seen some fascinating quarterback changes over the years, shifting from guys like Nick Foles to Jalen Hurts while still winning Super Bowls.

It's an interesting situation to be in for the organization, which has largely won due to the incredible roster building by general manager Howie Roseman. He's perhaps the best in the business, and the way he's built this roster focusing on the trenches speaks to that expertise.

Now, a former controversial Eagles quarterback has finally landed a job with a new team.

Former Eagles QB Carson Wentz Signs with Vikings

As reported by Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero of NFL Network, Carson Wentz has signed with the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday.

It's a wild move for Minnesota, who was seeking a backup to mentor J.J. McCarthy after his season-ending ACL injury in 2024. Philadelphia just made a quarterback trade and by all accounts, had no interest in a reunion with Wentz, which adds to the drama. This is someone who finished second in MVP voting with the franchise, but the fans hold no love lost.

Wentz, at every step of his career, has failed to garner supporters. He's trouble in the locker room and inaccurate, a deadly combination. Nonetheless, he's a wildly talented athlete and excellent in a backup role.

That said, it's just become clear that the national conversation elevated him to a place he wasn't ready for.

With the Eagles, Wentz was an All-Pro and considered to be one of the best players in the entire NFL. He's fallen far, embarrassingly so, and this gives Vikings head coach Kevin O'Connell a chance to be his savior.

O'Connell made Sam Darnold look like a competent player, so why can't he do the same for Wentz? The 32-year-old signal caller is obviously going through the best coaches he can to revive his career -- Andy Reid, O'Connell, and Sean McVay.

Wentz is grasping at his last straws. This is a talented player whose personality got in the way. Hopefully, he can resurrect his reputation and become the quarterback everyone always expected him to be.
