The Philadelphia Eagles parted ways with Gardner Minshew three seasons ago, with the veteran landing with the Colts, Raiders, and Chiefs since leaving Philly. The former Eagle has wasted no time making an impression on his new team, putting together two great preseason performances. Even in meaningless games, you want to see veterans perform at the expected level.
A great performance is simply going to be shrugged off as the preseason, while any struggles indicate a deeper problem. Much of the preseason is simply what you want to make of it. This goes for fans and pundits who are starved for any meaningful reps to react to. Still, Minshew's solid performance with Kansas City is noteworthy for the former Eagle, who continues to put together a nice career.
Minshew is just a step short of being consistent enough to be a starting option. However, there is no arguing against the fact that the quarterback is an elite backup option. Something Philly fans are quite familiar with over the past few seasons. Whether it is turning the clock all the way back to Nick Foles, or remembering how Jalen Hurts started what is already an iconic career.

Former Eagles QB Gardner Minshew Continues to Show Off in New Landing Spot
Friday night's Chiefs game brought Minshew a new chance to cement his status, playing the majority of the first half. Both of the first Kansas City preseason games have served as further confirmation that the Chiefs made a great decision bringing in the former Philly signal caller.
For the Eagles, there isn't any reason for concern at the position with Tanner McKee enjoying a nice preseason of his own. McKee continues to be one of the more overlooked Philadelphia stories, enjoying a nice camp and preseason after a strong performance to end the 2024 season.
Philly's backup situation continues to be among the league's strongest, with the Eagles having a long history of understanding the importance of adding a reliable second option. Minshew's one season with the franchise serves as an example of this. It will be interesting to watch how the backup's career continues to develop as he sits behind Patrick Mahomes for the 2025 season.
