The Philadelphia Eagles already have a wealth of talent at the skill positions. The four-headed monster of Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, and DeVonta Smith is as impressive a group as there is in the NFL today.
While the rest of the league certainly doesn't want to hear it, Eagles fans can officially start getting excited about another member of the wide receiver room making that leap during the 2025 season after the way they have started training camp.
Given that not all of the team's practices will be open to the public, fans may need to rely on the word of those in attendance when looking for updates from camp. With what Brown has had to say about his peer in the wide receiver room thus far, it seems safe to say that one, seemingly forgotten, receiver on the roster is turning heads with this play.
Forgotten Eagles WR Terrace Marshall Jr. Continues to Turn Heads at Camp
Despite being a recent second-round pick, former LSU Tigers standout Terrace Marshall Jr. has struggled to find his footing in the NFL. Now on his fourth team since 2021, Marshall has been one of the early surprises in training camp for Philadelphia, as noted by Brown's recent comments to CBS News Philadelphia.
"He's coming along quite well," Brown said, via Tom Ignudo of CBS News Philadelphia. "Even in the spring, he was making a lot of catches. I know you guys didn't see it, but he's going to make the room very uncomfortable, you know? And that's a great thing, you know? And I'm excited to see the room continue to evolve. Not just him, but everybody pushes each other, so I'm excited."
While those are Brown's words and not those of the coaching staff, head coach Nick Sirianni and company must see something in Marshall as well. The 25-year-old speedster received reps with the first-team offense during Saturday's practice session, according to Brandon Lee Gowtin of Bleeding Green Nation. This is something worth keeping an eye on for Eagles fans in the coming weeks.
Jahan Dotson is the No. 3 wideout on Philadelphia's depth chart at this time. His hold on that job is anything but solid, though, after reeling in just 19 receptions over 17 games during the 2024 campaign.
If Marshall can continue at the level he has been performing at in the early stages of camp, the coaches on the offensive side of the ball could have a decision on their hands. Marshall is a solid three inches taller than Dotson and ran a faster 40-yard dash at the NFL combine. If the production is there during camp and the preseason, that could turn into a very intriguing camp battle to follow.
Either way, it sounds like Marshall is doing all that he can to impress his new coaches with just 67 receptions for 808 yards and one touchdown to his credit over 43 NFL games. The sooner Marshall can prove he is ready to be a regular contributor to the offense, the better.
