Being a winning team comes with a hefty price to pay. It's often difficult to retain your top assistant coaches, and, unfortunately, the Philadelphia Eagles are more than aware of this trend. It's happened before, like when they lost both defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon and offensive coordinator Shane Steichen.

This season might not be the exception to that rule. While no one should be lining up to hire OC Kevin Patullo after a dismal performance this year, and DC Vig Fangio will also probably stay, Eagles positional coaches might pursue promotions somewhere else.

The Eagles Might Lose Several Position Coaches After 2025 Campaign

Several teams have parted ways with their head coaches and/or defensive coordinators around the league in the past couple of days. That spells trouble for an Eagles team that somehow managed to keep the staff intact last year.

For starters, defensive backs coach Christian Parker has always been a name to keep an eye on at this point in the season. He's highly regarded for his ability to develop young players, and he interviewed for the New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator position last season. He also interviewed for the Green Bay Packers DC job when he was with the Denver Broncos.

Other position coaches who might be on another team's radar include DE coach Jeremiah Washburn, LBs coach Bobby King, safeties coach Joe Kasper, and DL coach Clint Hurtt. The Eagles have taken pride in their ability to find and develop talented players, and a lot of that has to do with the guys doing the hard work behind closed doors.

Of course, plenty of the Eagles' ability to hold onto their coaches will depend on how far they go into the postseason. It's less likely that anybody will leave while they're still in the playoffs, as teams will probably act quickly to try and fill their vacant positions as quickly as possible.

The Las Vegas Raiders, Tennessee Titans, New York Giants, and Cleveland Browns will all be searching for new coaching staffs. Other teams, like the Washington Commanders, will have an OC and DC position to fill. And with Fangio all but a lock to return to Nick Sirianni's coaching staff next season, it's hard to believe any of these coaches will pass on a chance to get a better position somewhere else.

That's the price to pay for success. But if it leads to another deep postseason run or Super Bowl title, it will all be worth it.
