The Philadelphia Eagles have built a Super Bowl winner and a big reason for their success has been their ability to develop defensive linemen. While Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis were blue-chip prospects coming into the NFL, the Eagles also had successful development projects such as Milton Williams and Moro Ojomo that helped provide the depth necessary to survive a long season.
Unfortunately, not all experiments pan out. In the case of one former Eagles lineman, his career has floundered after the team took a flier on him and he faces another obstacle as he was cut by his latest team.
Former Eagles DT Siaki Ika Waived by Chiefs
According to KSHB’s Nick Jacobs, the Chiefs have waived defensive tackle Siaki Ika. The move was made for the Chiefs to sign tight end Kevin Foelsch, but adds another troubling chapter to the former Eagle’s career.

Ika was a third-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 2023 draft after a punishing collegiate career with the Baylor Bears. The 6-foot-4, 350-pound Ika notched 48 total tackles and four sacks over his two seasons as a starter in 2021 and 2022 but the talent never translated to the next level.
The Browns released Ika during training camp last summer and the Eagles picked him up and placed him on the practice squad. Ika was released twice by Philadelphia over the course of the season before the Chiefs signed him to the practice squad last December. After signing a futures contract with Kansas City in February, Ika has been waived again.
It’s a rough development for a player that has only appeared in four career games and none since his rookie season. It’s even condemning that the Eagles couldn’t get something out of the former third-round pick given their history of developing defensive linemen. Either way, Ika’s career is on life support as he looks for a new job.
