The NFL schedule makers did the Philadelphia Eagles no favors this season. The defending champions face several tough tests once the 2025 regular season kicks off this September.
With matchups against the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Rams, and Tampa Bay Buccaneers coming in the first four weeks of the season, a former Eagles quarterback is already sounding the alarm over the potential for a disastrous start to the 2025 campaign.
During a recent episode of The Facility on Fox Sports 1, Chase Daniel detailed how Philadelphia could be staring a 1-3 record in the face after the opening month if they are not ready to go right out of the gate.
"This is a real thing," Daniel said, via Eagles on SI. "There is a real possibility that the Eagles could start 1-3. It's not impossible. You're beating the Cowboys but then you have the Chiefs, which the Chiefs play the Eagles really well. The Rams, they almost beat them. And then Tampa has beaten them as well. We're forgetting that the they have a new offensive coordinator and they have new defensive pieces. We can say this, that the Eagles are the best team, but it isn't impossible."
Will the Eagles start by losing three of their first four games? It seems highly unlikely, but Daniel makes some good points. Outside of the Cowboys, who are still a division rival, the rest of those first four games are far from a cakewalk. The defending champions also have new coaches and players who must learn how to work best with one another.
Daniel goes on to say that the schedule Philadelphia must contend with makes him think that a very good season for the Eagles would equate to 11 wins. That should be enough to make it to the postseason in the NFC, but it would be a far cry from the spot they were in during their title run in 2024.
There are plenty of reasons for Eagles fans to be confident heading into this season. Being overconfident, though, could come back to bite them given this unforgiving schedule.
