The Philadelphia Eagles have a clear decision to make when it comes to the type of offensive coordinator the team must be targeting. After Kevin Patullo's failure, the franchise needs to either go with a young prospect that has earned an opportunity or a proven option like former head coaches Brian Daboll or Mike McDaniel. Former Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Zac Robinson fits neither of these descriptions, and yet, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Eagles are interviewing Robinson for the open position.

Even choosing to interview the 2025 Atlanta play caller is an awful decision. This is easy for anyone familiar with Atlanta's offense to realize, watching an offense that finished 24th in points per game and only 13th in yardage. Add in the fact that the franchise was under 200 passing yards in five of their last seven games, and it is impossible to see any valid argument for bringing in the former OC. Robinson is the exact type of mindset that the Eagles just moved on from in Patullo.

If anything, Robinson would be worse for the franchise, understanding the mileage he would likely put on Saquon Barkley. In Atlanta, Bijan Robinson was given 287 rushing attempts and an additional 103 targets. Watching back Atlanta's season, the wear-and-tear on Robinson is alarming and not the type of punishment that an older back in Barkley could be expected to hold up under. No question, Robinson is absolutely not a fit and shouldn't be taken seriously, no matter the results of the interview; the Eagles simply have far more promising options to explore.

Eagles Cannot Afford the Mistake of Hiring Former Falcons OC Zac Robinson

Adding to this is the fact that under Robinson in Atlanta, only Drake London had a solid season at the receiver position. Again, this is the exact type of frustration that the Eagles are trying to solve with their depth at the position, offering zero consistency. Only A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith offered a level of expected production in the 2025 ceiling, with depth pieces offering nothing of note. This is the same story for the Falcons and furthers the case that no matter how the interview goes, it cannot be taken seriously.

The often disgruntled Brown even commented on the passing game failures, pointing out just how frustrating things had been under Patullo. This isn't going to change if you bring in Robinson; if anything, it is going to add even more frustration to a group badly in need of a fresh perspective. Robinson isn't going to provide that and will leave your star players frustrated and Barkley in harm's way.

With this in mind, fans can only hope that Robinson's interview is a formality and not a sign of genuine interest. The Eagles have far too much talent not to attract one of their top options, and Robinson can't be anywhere close to the top of this list.
