We're through one game of preseason action, and that means it's time for overreactions to run rampant. But that also doesn't mean there aren't real threads emerging already, especially if we include the context of how training camp has played out so far. One trend that is becoming glaringly obvious is that the Eagles have one veteran who is well on the way to losing his starting job.
Kelee Ringo is the presumed starting cornerback opposite Quinyon Mitchell this year (thanks to Darius Slay's departure), but his 2025 preseason debut against the Cincinnati Bengals was just the latest step he's taken toward losing that job.
Kelee Ringo on Thin Ice After Terrible Showing vs. Bengals
Ringo, like most of the Eagles' secondary, had a really rough showing on Thursday night. Getting torched by Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase isn't exactly unforgiveable, but Ringo looked particularly bad against Chase and did also give up a first down to the less intimidating Charlie Jones.
Admittedly, the competition for RIngo's job didn't actually show out, but that doesn't leave him on any less shaky footing.

Free-agent addition Adoree Jackson had a relatively rough preseason debut of his own. He looked lost at times in coverage, though he did have a couple of sound plays that stood out (namely his big stop on Chase Brown). And at this point, Jackson isn't the only competition for Ringo's job.
Philly trading for Jakorian Bennett was a clear sign that they're not content with what they've got in the cornerback room. Bennett has started 11 games over his two NFL seasons. He's not been as good as Ringo in that time, but there's a big difference between being surrounded by the talent of the Eagles' defense and playing for the Las Vegas Raiders.
Further, Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has been working on getting Cooper Dejean some run on the outside, in addition to his usual role as the slot corner. This isn't necessarily a huge deal on its own, but it does serve to continue the trend.
That's three moves the Eagles have made to give themselves additional options on the perimeter since Ringo has inherited the starting job. They're obviously not comfortable with what he brings to the table, and his struggles on Thursday night are only going to serve to make that worse.
